United Cerebral Palsy of Southwestern Pennsylvania
Early Intervention
The Early Intervention Program offers supports and services designed to assist families of infants and toddlers (age birth ? three), with special needs, to promote the development of their children. Developmental Specialists provide services within the child?s natural environment. This typically includes the child?s home, day care center, or other community setting. This approach is intended to help the child?s caregivers learn ways to support their daily routines and activities. Related services including, but not limited to, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and vision and audiology services are provided when appropriate. An Individual Family Service Plan, or IFSP, is developed for each child found eligible through a Multidisciplinary Evaluation, or MDE. Parent participation in all aspects of the program is strongly encouraged.
